Whitefield Presbyterian Church Abergavenny

Penypound, Abergavenny, NP7 5UD

Who we are

The church was founded in the mid 1850s by William Williams (Swansea) during a brief pastorate he held at Crickhowell. The original buiding is in Frogmore Street. The present building in Penypound was built in 1907.

More important than the building are those who make up the church.

We are a small friendly fellowship of Christians who love the gospel, seek to honour God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who submit to the authority of the Bible and seek to know God personally and conform to His word in every aspect of our lives.

We are determined to maintain pure biblical doctrine, preach and teach Jesus Christ and Him crucified as our only means of salvation and worship God with reverence.

We meet for Worship on Sunday mornings at 10:30. We have a Bible study at 6:00 on Suday evening where we have a discuusion study based on our own study the prevoius week. Our Prayer meeting is held on Thursday morning at 10:30pm except the first Thursday of the month when the Ladies Fellowship meet.

What we Believe

1.We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God.

2.We believe there is only one God who has three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

3.We believe that man was created in the image of God and was perfect, but that there was a falling info sin by disobedience.

4.We believe that God graciously sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to be the Saviour of the world.

5.We believe that His death on the cross is the only way that God forgives sin, and is the only way that repentant sinners can be reconciled to a Holy God.

6.We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ rose bodily from the grave, and has ascended to heaven, from where He will return again a second time.

7.We believe the Holy Spirit brings to us all the blessings that Christ has secured for us

8.We believe in heaven and hell. Heaven is open to all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and that hell is the place of punishment for all who reject Him.
